At YFC, we understand that stigma and discrimination are long-standing issues within the mental health community. YFC embraces the vision of enhanced wellness, early intervention, and recovery as cornerstones to eliminating the stigma and discrimination that often accompanies mental illness.
Our key strategic imperative is to continue to raise awareness, by forging local partnerships with our community and bring to bear an environment that embraces the importance of mental health as part of one’s overall well-being. Our intention is to deliver a strategy that sets out priorities for action that will promote mental health awareness and early intervention, as well as creating positive change for all people and families affected by the full range of mental health challenges and illnesses.
We envision greater integration of physical and mental wellness for all residents of Lake County and a future where mental health labeling, stereotyping, and discrimination belong to the past. As YFC continues to evolve, the need to address these issues and influence behaviors has never been more important.
Ultimately, we envision a future where people affected by mental health challenges are socially included, valued, and supported in their wellness and recovery and go on to live happy, fulfilling, and productive lives.
